Extended Schools Programme

A tremendous programme of activities for the school and local community runs from September to April each year. This programme is funded by D.E. and is dependent on St. Mary's working with other schools in the locality and by the support of the community on attending the activities.

These activities are either based in our sports hall or at a local partner school. A detailed programme detailing dates and venues is issued to all children at the beginning of each term.

Activities planned for this year include:

Term 1 Term 2
Numeracy  Drama
Gardening Art
Literacy Darts Club
Drama Music - Drumming
Multi Skills Multi Skills
 Art Literacy & Numeracy

Each year as part of the 'Cairn Cluster' - St. Mary's, Ballytrea and Hillhead P.S. the three schools organise a range of activities to support and enhance the children's experiences in the curriculum. This year we are training teachers and classroom assistants in each school in a literacy programme to enrich and extend children's language.
