Shared Education
Yesterday we held our final celebration day to mark the end of this year’s Shared Education Project, and what a wonderful day it was! We were delighted to welcome our friends from Ballytrea Primary School to St. Mary’s for a very special occasion celebrating friendship, creativity and partnership.
Mrs Devlin and Mr Black, alongside children from both schools, led a beautiful thanksgiving assembly filled with reflection, joy and some brilliant singing from all the children. It was lovely to see the confidence, enthusiasm and friendships that have developed throughout the year shining through in every part of the celebration.
We were also delighted to welcome Paul McIver, our Shared Education Officer, who was blown away by the fantastic work the children have participated in during this year’s art project. The children were proudly presented with their finished pieces entitled ‘One Heart, Two Friends’, ‘Two Schools, One Sky’ and ‘Shared Skies’ — each one reflecting the strong bonds and shared experiences created through the project.
A special thank you must also go to Lorraine Ward, the talented artist who guided and inspired the children throughout the project. Lorraine presented both schools with a beautiful whole-school piece representing love, friendship and peace — a lasting reminder of everything this partnership has achieved.
We are incredibly thankful to everyone who took part and supported this year’s Shared Education Project. Most importantly, we are grateful for the friendships made, the memories created and the shared experiences that will stay with our children for many years to come.
