One of our key priorities this year in St. Mary’s is to further develop our children’s love for reading. Throughout the year, Mrs Devlin will be visiting classrooms to observe reading lessons and chat with the children about their books and learning.
We are delighted to share that the school has just placed an order for a brand-new selection of reading books, including exciting new titles that we hope will inspire our pupils and encourage them to fully engage with reading, both in school and at home.
In today’s P3/4 lesson, the children explored comic strips. They worked together to sequence a story using pictures, before adding text. Finally, they created speech bubbles and thought bubbles for the characters. This activity really brought the story to life - and the children thoroughly enjoyed their learning.
