January in Primary 3/4

1st Feb 2026

January has been a very busy month in P3/4 and we have set ourselves new personal targets for this term. We have been working hard at developing our independence and critical thinking skills in addition and subtraction in Numeracy.
We have written poems about ‘Winter’ in Literary and created fabulous Winter scenes in Art to go along with them.
We have also started our new World Around Us topic of ‘Transport’ and we can’t wait to continue this.
During Catholic Schools Week we worked very hard on identifying ways we could be called to holiness…….through our prayers, our families, our school and our communities.
Our school value this month was ‘Being Welcome’, which we try to live out every day in school - to each other, to regular visitors and to any one who drops into our school for a short time.
We had a super day when we welcomed Ballytrea P.S and Lorraine the artist for the day. We visited Stewartstown Presbyterian Church for inspiration on tone, colours, shapes and patterns before working on our kite collages. We can’t wait to visit Ballytrea P.S in February.
Most of all we loved welcoming our grandparents to our St.Brigid cross-making day. It was so special to have them here with us and to chat and learn from them. The crosses were blessed by Deacon Malachy and everyone got to bring one home.
We have really enjoyed January and look forward to February being every bit as much fun and successful in helping us grow and develop more in every area of our learning.
